The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph I. Ikechebelu, has commissioned three key projects initiated and completed by the outgoing Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Alvan Okwudiri Ikokwu-Nwamara.
As Dean, Prof. Nwamara prioritized unity and infrastructural development within the Faculty. As his tenure comes to an end, he has successfully delivered a borehole project to address persistent water shortages, a love quadrangle—an open space with trees for staff and students to relax and engage in informal discussions—and a symbol of unity emphasizing the cohesion of the Faculty.
Speaking at the commissioning, Prof. Ikechebelu expressed his delight at the projects and urged other Faculty Deans to make significant contributions within their Faculties. He also encouraged the incoming Dean to build on these achievements and take the Faculty’s development to greater heights.
In a further show of support for academic excellence, Very Rev. Fr. Prof. Bonachristus Umeogu of the Department of Philosophy donated a brand-new laptop to the Faculty to enhance research efforts.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by the Acting Registrar, Mr. Victor Modebelu, the SAVC (Academics), Prof. Ada Sam-Omenyi, as well as academic and non-teaching staff, and students of the Faculty.
