RECOGNITION FOR EXCELLENCE
Adult and Continuing Education Department Presents World Literacy Day Award to UNIZIK VC
The Department of Adult and Continuing Education, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Anyaehie, to present to him an Award of Excellence for Digital Transformation, bestowed on him during the department’s World Literacy Day celebration.
The award, which was presented to the Vice-Chancellor in recognition of his commitment to advancing literacy through digital transformation and improving access to education, was part of activities marking the 2026 World Literacy Day celebration held on September 8, 2026.
Presenting the award on behalf of the department, the Head of Department, Prof. C. M. O. Madu, appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for his support and encouragement to the department, particularly his efforts towards the digital transformation of the University.
Responding, the VC Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Anyaehie expressed appreciation to the department for the recognition, assuring that the University would continue to pursue digital initiatives that make academic and administrative processes easier and more efficient for staff and students.
The Vice-Chancellor highlighted some of the ongoing digitalisation initiatives, including the simplification of result approval processes, the introduction of a digital clearance system, and the provision of digitally verifiable certificates with barcodes. He explained that the initiatives were designed to reduce delays, ease administrative processes and make verification of certificates more accessible while discouraging fraudulent practices.
He thanked the Department of Adult and Continuing Education for recognising the University’s digitalisation efforts and encouraged the department to continue supporting initiatives aimed at promoting literacy and improving educational delivery.
Also part of the delegation was Prof. Willie Obiozor, Prof. Helen Adebola, Dr. O. C. Chukwuemerie, and Dr. Apiti Anthony, Sub Dean, Student Affairs.
