Barrister Monsur Olugbenga Kukoyi Assumes Office as Pro-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University

The newly appointed Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Barrister Monsur Olugbenga Kukoyi, has officially assumed office and commenced his duties.

Upon his arrival, Barr. Kukoyi participated in the university’s 230th meeting of the Senate, where he engaged in an interactive session with members. During the session, he emphasized the importance of unity, collaboration, and upholding the legacy of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, the esteemed statesman after whom the university is named.

As part of his familiarisation activities, the Pro-Chancellor embarked on a tour of the university’s facilities to assess areas requiring urgent attention. The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph I. Ikechebelu, accompanied him on the tour, which included visits to Elmada Hostel, the College of Postgraduate Studies, the Emeka Anyaoku Institute for International Studies and Diplomacy, the Confucius Institute, the University Library and the Science village.

Several members of the university’s management joined the tour, including Prof. Au Nnonyelu (SAVC General Duties), Prof. Ada Sam-Omenyi (SAVC Academics), Prof. Makodi Bierrenu-Nnabugwu(Dean Student Affairs), Prof. Angela Ufele Obiesie (Director Academic Planning), Prof. Tracie Utoh-Ezeajugh (Member, Governing Council), and Prof. Harry Obi-Nwosu (former Council member).

Barr. Kukoyi’s assumption of office marks a new chapter in the university’s governance, with a focus on unity, institutional excellence, and infrastructural development.
