CKOi OKUNENYEIFE FOUNDATION DONATES N5 MILLION FOR RECONSTRUCTION OF WALKING PAVILLION AT NNAMDI AZIKWE UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER
The Charles Kene Ojukwu Initiative (CKOi) Okunenyeife Foundation has donated #5,000,000 (five million naira) to Nnamdi Azikwe University, Awka for the reconstruction of walkway pavilion connecting the old Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) Medical Centre to the new University Medical Center building.
Speaking during the occasion at the Vice-Chancellor's office, the manager of the CKOIF, Mr Sylvester Ojiugo and his counterpart, Dr Chibuike Abunike made the presentation on behalf or Dr Charles Kenechukwu Ojukwu, founder the CKOIF.
Okunenyeife Foundation had earlier on his visit to the University in June 2026 promised to assist the University especially in uplifting the Medical Centre
Dr. Abunike who is a lecturer in the University and a confidant of Dr. Ojukwu stated that this is one of the many commitments the donor made to the University and has remained accessible to his almamater.
It will be recalled that Dr. Ojukwu, the donor is a British trained consultant family physician in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada who has expressed his determination to bring his medical expertise and philanthropic resources -to support institutional development.
On the CKOi Okunenyeife foundation, it is acknowledged to be an NGO committed to advancing community health insurance, scholarships and youth empowerment initiative across Anambra State, alongside strategic support for institutions such as UNIZIK.
In her vote of thanks, the deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Hilda Osisioma expressed her delight on behalf of the management for the redemption of the pledge.
The Director of Medical Services, Dr. Jane Ezeonu in her response thanked the Vice- Chancellor for opening the doors for collaborations and mutual cooperation and also deeply appreciated the donor for his large heart,
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Anyaehie joined the Deputy Vice-Chancellor in conveying a heartfelt appreciation to the donor. He noted that UNIZIK is on a progressive mode under his administration while the management is ever ready to welcome development partners and friends of the university who are willing to help in advancing the institution to greater heights.
It is expected that the walking pavilion once completed, will improve connectivity and ease of movement between the old and new medical centre, facilities for staff, students and patients alike.
