Economic Influence of COVID-19 Pandemic on Agricultural Migrant Labour: Implication for Food and Nutrition Security

Abstract

Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) became pandemic leading to non-movement of agricultural migrant labour which posed challenges to food and nutrition security. Most of the migrant workers became vulnerable, making labour scarce and expensive as was shown to increase by 10.88 and 23.99 per cent (Anambra and Imo States). Therefore, food and nutrition security was affected, lives and livelihoods are now at risk; and as such, food systems must be sustainable to avoid food vulnerability, insurgencies and national insecurity at the post-COVID-19 pandemic era.
