Lack of Knowledge of the Preventive Measures for COVID-19 and the Health of Migrants

Abstract:

This study examines the knowledge of WHO preventive measures for corona virus (COVID-19) disease transmission among migrants. Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was used to gather the data from migrants who engage in unskilled labour as means of survival in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria. Vicious cycle theory of poverty was adopted as theoretical framework. Analysis was by content analysis. Findings showed that most migrants engage in anti-COVID-19 preventive measures due to poverty and lack of actual knowledge of the preventive measures. The study recommends grassroots awareness creation on mode of transmission and other ways to prevent COVID-19
