The Confucius Institute at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (CI at NAU) has clinched the national championship at the 2025 ‘Chinese Bridge’ Chinese Proficiency Competition for College Students in Nigeria, marking its tenth national title since 2018.
The event, hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria and sponsored by Huawei Technologies Nigeria Ltd., concluded in Abuja on 30th May 2025 with outstanding performances from all five contestants representing CI at NAU.
All five students earned recognition for their exceptional talent and dedication:
Ms. Okoro C. Benedicta (杨笑笑) and Ms. Gwacham E. Chinazaeipere (王悠悠) each received the Excellence Award.
Ms Ibikunle A. Oluwatofunmi (倪好) won the Third Prize.
Ms. Ugwuanyi C. Mabel (张佳宁) secured the Second Prize and has been invited to observe the Global Final in China.
Ms. Ukachukwu C. Nwanneka (陈沛曦) emerged as the National Champion and will proudly represent Nigeria at the Global Final in China.
This marks the tenth time a student from CI at NAU has won the national title in Nigeria. Since 2018, all nine previous champions from the institute have gone on to achieve remarkable results at the international level, including:
Three African Regional Champions (Top 5 globally)
Two Global “First Prize” Winners (Top 10 globally)
Four Global “Third Prize” Winners (Top 30 globally)
CI at NAU expresses its heartfelt congratulations to all the participants and especially to Ms. Ukachukwu for continuing the institute’s proud legacy.
With only the global championship title left to claim, the Confucius Institute remains hopeful that this year’s representative will bring Nigeria closer to that long-cherished dream.
Congratulations to all our winners.
