MERIDIAN 2026 Ignites Conversations on Financing Africa's Future at UNIZIK
The Investment Society, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (TIS UNIZIK), has successfully hosted MERIDIAN 2026, its flagship finance and investment conference, bringing together students, academics, and leading professionals from Nigeria's financial services industry to explore innovative pathways for financing Africa's economic future.
Held at the ASUU Secretariat Hall on Friday, July 17, 2026, the conference, themed "Financing Africa's Future: The Role of Capital in Financing Africa's Infrastructure and Financial Markets," served as a vibrant platform for robust discussions on the transformative role of capital markets, investment institutions, and private enterprise in accelerating Africa's development. The event also exposed participants to emerging career opportunities across the finance and investment ecosystem.
Delivering keynote addresses were the Deputy Managing Director of Afrinvest West Africa, Mr. Victor Ndukauba; the Deputy Director of the UNIZIK Business School, Prof. Uju Ezenekwe; and renowned investment and finance professional, Mr. Chris Aigbe, CFA. The speakers examined critical issues surrounding infrastructure financing, capital market development, ethical leadership, and the competencies required to succeed in today's highly competitive global financial landscape.
The conference featured insightful technical sessions by Founder and Principal of Immerse Africa VC Academy, Mr. Fisayo Durojaye; Private Equity Professional at Kuramo Capital, Mr. Chukwuemeka Agba; Professor of Development Economics, Prof. Chris Kalu; Head of Client Services at Savest Financial Services, Miss Chidalu Echem; Chief Executive Officer of OBCSolarworld, Mr. Tony Anigbogu; and Investment Analyst at Coronation Asset Management, Mr. Somto Onyele.
Drawing from their extensive professional experiences, the resource persons provided practical insights into venture capital, private equity, investment research, client relationship management, asset management, and sustainable enterprise development. They also encouraged students to cultivate the technical expertise, leadership qualities, and professional networks necessary for successful careers in the global financial sector.
MERIDIAN 2026 received strong institutional support from Afrinvest, CFA Society Nigeria, and Savest Financial Services, reflecting a shared commitment to nurturing future finance professionals and strengthening collaboration between academia and industry.
Speaking during the conference, President of The Investment Society, Chidike Shadrach, described MERIDIAN as more than an annual conference.
