    Welcome to the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. This department is founded on the philosophy that knowledge should be propagated and disseminated to individuals without hindrance. Teaching and research are anchored on the needs of the immediate environment and the Nigerian society in general.     Mission

    The mission of Department is thus to use teaching research and public service to solve problems. In the process of leaning students are oriented to use education in the solution of practical problems confronting them and the Nigerian society. It is expected that the graduate of the department will be able to use knowledge acquired in solving immediate problem in science eg technological backwardness, poor health delivery services agricultural under production, environmental degradation misapplication and or under utilization of human and material resources etc.

    Vision

    The vision of the department is to train engineers who will immediately upon graduation become useful problem solvers, designers or product engineers able to participate actively in the engineering process and to translate their knowledge into practical and meaningful products. Of course, such a high objective demands from the student a thorough knowledge of the basic sciences and mathematics which forms the practical attitude on the part of the student to always want to relate his studies to actual and practical situation.

    Objectives

    The department desires to train engineers who will immediately upon graduation become useful problem solvers, designers or product engineers able to participate actively in the engineering process and to translate their knowledge into practical and meaningful products. Of course, such a high objective demands from the student a thorough knowledge of the basic sciences and mathematics which forms the practical attitude on the part of the student to always want to relate his studies to actual and practical situation.

    Admission Requirements
    Undergraduate

    A candidate seeking admission must have credit level passes in five subjects in either the West African School certificate (WASC) examination or the General Certificate of Education (GCE). Ordinary level or six credits in not more than two sittings or attempts. The subjects include English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. Candidates with credit passes in Ordinary National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (OND), City and Guilds of London Institute (Final Certificate) can be admitted as direct entry students into the 200 level provided they have the several O level requirements.

    Postgraduate

    The admission requirements, the PGD, Masters and PhD Programmes in Electronic Engineering are listed below 1. Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) a. Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related Engineering disciplines with a least , Upper Credit or b. B.Eng or B. Tech degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with at least Third Class (Hons) or c. B.Sc in Science related discipline with at least a Second Class B.Sc (Hons) degree. Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related Engineering disciplines with a Lower Credit and a minimum of five years post-qualification relevant experience may be considered. 2. Masters a. A candidate with a first degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related Engineering from a recognized University with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division may be admitted provided the Universtiy matriculation requirement is satisfied. b. A candidate with Upper Credit pass in the Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related Engineering from a recognized University with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division may be admitted to a Master Degree Programme provided the University matriculation requirements are satisfied. 3. Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degree A candidate who holds a Masters degree, with in a minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a 5-point scale or an average of 60% which includes course work and research thesis in Electronic Engineering, from a recognized university may be admitted provided the university matriculation requirements is satisfied

    Diploma

    Electronic and Computer Engineering does not offer programme leading to certificates in Diploma.
