    I am pleased to welcome you to the Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics which is a varied and exciting discipline that has a great deal of indoor and outdoor balance. It requires a combination of design skills, computer and measurement skills with field work, lab experiments, inter personal skills, computer modelling and the ability to pay attention to detail to be able to solve a variety of problems that have a common attribute referred to as spatial location.     SURVEYING AND GEOINFORMATICS


    The Department started in the defunct Anambra State University of Science and Technology in 1985 at Enugu Campus.  Following the bifurcation of Anambra State into Anambra and Enugu States, the University was equally bifurcated.

    Bulk of the staff signed for Anambra State University now Nnamdi Azikiwe University.  With the Bulk of academic staff on the ground, the approval for the commencement of the programme in the Faculty of Environmental Science was obtained in the year 2000.  The first intake was made in 2001/2002 academic sessions.  Today, the Department is had turned out graduates in each academic year who are doing well in the Surveying and Geoinformatics Profession as well as in other areas of life endeavours.

    The Department currently has 15 academic staff including one adjunct Professor, one adjunct Senior Lecturer, One contract Senior Lecturer, two technologists and sizable equipment. The Department was granted full accreditation by the National Universities Commission in the 2014 nationwide accreditation of programmes in Nigerian Universities, and obtained full accreditation for its B.Sc. and PGD programmes from SURCON in February, 2006.

    Admission Requirements
    Undergraduate

    4.1 Basic Academic Entry Qualification 4.1.1 Senior Secondary School Certificate with credit in at least five subjects in not more than two sittings, including Mathematics, Physics and English Language 4.1.2 WASC ( or GCE) Ordinary level certificate with five credits obtained in not more than two sitting including Mathematics, Physics and English Language 4.1.3 National Examination Council (NECO) SSCE with at least five credits obtained in not more than two sittings, including Mathematics, Physics and English Language 4.2 Direct Entry Qualification Candidates who satisfy the basic academic entry requirements as outlined above and in addition hold the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Surveying and Geoinformatics at credit level could be admitted into 200 level of the programme. In addition, candidates with any of the following qualifications can be admitted into 200 level of the programme. 4.2.1 Higher National Diploma at Lower or Upper Credit in Surveying and Geoinformatics or related disciplines 4.2.2 Advanced Technical Certificate I from the Federal School of Surveying, Oyo 4.2.3 GCE Advanced Level Papers in three of the following: Physics, Mathematics, Geography, Technical Drawing plus O level credit in English Language 4.2.4 Professional Diploma from the Federal School of Surveying, Oyo.
