TOWARDS A GLOBAL AGENDA FOR DEVELOPMENT: THE ROLE OF IFAC

TOWARDS A GLOBAL AGENDA FOR DEVELOPMENT: THE ROLE OF IFAC by Prof. Benjamin Chuka Osisioma

The Millennium Development Goals represent a framework for global development initiative. This substructure has inspired regional, subregional and national development efforts in several coasts and climes. In Nigeria, the diverse reform programmes at the national and sub-national levels are part of the nation’s development modelling aimed at working in tandem with the global agenda. The role of IFAC centres around strengthening financial infrastructure in developing economies, developing best practices in professional accountants, encouraging professional accountancy organisations (PAOs) to develop accountants for strategic role in national economies, and improving the quality of public and private sector accountancy and financial management. The global body works towards enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of donor assistance in developing countries, thereby promoting growth and reducing poverty.
