President Tinubu Lays Foundation Stone for CEP Legacy Building at UNIZIK 19th Convocation

As part of the activities marking the 19th Convocation Ceremony of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, the Visitor to the university, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, represented by Prof. Joseph Eberendu Ahaneku, has performed the foundation stone-laying of the Continuous Education Program (CEP) Administrative Legacy Building.
In his address, President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the education sector, emphasizing ongoing efforts to revamp the system to improve both the quality and accessibility of education for all Nigerians. He stressed that the government remains focused on ensuring that sound education reaches every citizen, irrespective of their socio-economic background.
Representing the President, Prof. Ahaneku, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of the African University of Science and Technology, Abuja, and a former Vice-Chancellor of UNIZIK, commended the university’s leadership under the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu. He praised the administration for its vision of “BLESSeD UNIZIK”, a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing teaching, research, academic, and administrative excellence, infrastructure and security within the institution.
Earlier in his remarks, the Director of CEP, Prof Okenwa Cy Ogbodo, lauded the Acting Vice-Chancellor for his support and approval of the project. He highlighted the significance of the Continuous Education Program, which has been in existence for 33 years, noting that it was long overdue for a dedicated administrative building. He stated that the new facility would contribute to improving the institution’s overall outlook and effectiveness in managing the part-time programme.
Prof Ogbodo reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the CEP continues to produce graduates who excel both in learning and character, ultimately contributing to societal growth and development. He further called on university alumni, friends of the institution, and past beneficiaries of the CEP to support and invest in the legacy project.
The highlight of the event was the ceremonial foundation stone-laying of the CEP Legacy Administrative Complex, officially performed by the institution’s Visitor, marking a significant milestone in the university’s pursuit of academic excellence.
