UNIZIK Educational Foundations Dept Shines as Doctoral Student Wins Prestigious 2026 Women in Measurement ResearcHER Award
The Department of Educational Foundations, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has recorded another commendable milestone as a doctoral student in the Department, Ogechi Nwosu, emerges as a recipient of the 2026 ResearcHER Award of Women in Measurement.
The ResearcHER Award of Women in Measurement is an international initiative dedicated to advancing women-led research and promoting a deeper understanding of race and gender issues in the field of measurement and amplifying the contributions of women scholars.
Speaking during an interview with the Department’s Digital Visibility, Branding and Knowledge Dissemination Committee, Ogechi Nwosu explained that her research, titled “Developing an Evidence-Based Mentoring Framework for Women Early-Career Measurement Professionals in Nigeria,” is motivated by the persistent underrepresentation of women in quantitative and data-intensive professions and the limited availability of evidence-based mentoring frameworks tailored to women in educational measurement and evaluation in Nigeria.
She noted that the study seeks to develop and validate a mentoring framework that responds to the needs and experiences of early-career women, with the ultimate goal of supporting their professional development, career progression and leadership within the field.

She is supervised by Prof. NPM Esomonu and co-mentored by Prof. Christiana and Dr. Njideka Mbelede. Their involvement highlights the importance of quality doctoral supervision and academic mentorship in nurturing emerging researchers and supporting research with wider professional and societal relevance.
A statement by Dr. Mary Nneka Nwikpo , Chairman, Digital Visibility, Branding and Knowledge Dissemination Committee , Department of Educational Foundations
Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, said the recognition is a source of pride to the Department of Educational Foundations and the University at large.
