UNIZIK Innovator Prof Ngwoke Earns Global Recognition as SalesMate NG Clinches Joint Third Place in Fabrizio × Emergent Builder’s Contest
Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has recorded another remarkable achievement in the global technology and innovation space, following the emergence of SalesMate NG, a digital solution developed by the University’s Prof. Kenneth Ngwoke, as a joint third-place winner in the recently concluded Fabrizio × Emergent Builder’s Contest.
SalesMate NG is a voice-powered, mobile-first business management solution designed to support informal traders and micro-enterprises in managing their businesses more efficiently. The platform enables users to record sales, manage stock, track customer debts and expenses, monitor profitability and generate useful business records.
The organisers formally recognised SalesMate NG among the Top Three winning entries in the international competition, which attracted builders from different countries, industries and professional backgrounds.
According to Prof. Ngwoke, the achievement is particularly significant because he was the only African builder represented among the Top Three winners, giving the feat added significance for Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nigeria and the broader African innovation ecosystem.
Entries in the competition were assessed on a range of criteria beyond public voting, including the quality of the problem addressed, product execution, user experience, scalability, robustness and practical relevance.
The success of SalesMate NG further demonstrates the capacity of academics and innovators within Nnamdi Azikiwe University to participate competitively in global technology and innovation ecosystems while developing practical solutions to real-world socioeconomic challenges.
Prof. Ngwoke, who is the Director of the University’s Directorate of Certificate and Diploma Programmes, formally communicated the achievement to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Anyaehie, expressing appreciation to the University Management for fostering an environment that supports academic innovation and technological creativity.
The University community celebrates this outstanding global recognition as another testament to the growing culture of innovation, entrepreneurship and problem-solving at Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
