UNIZIK Receives NUC Delegation for Resource Assessment of Eight Newly Created Programmes
The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Ugochukwu Stanley Bond Anyaehie, has received a 21-member delegation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) on a resource assessment visit to the University.
The delegation, led by the Team Leader, Mrs. Eucharia C. Ike, was at the University to assess the available human and material resources for eight newly created academic programmes.
The eight newly established programmes included B.Sc. Criminology and Security Studies, B.Sc. Social Work, B. Sc. Project Management, B.Sc, Brewing Science and B.Sc. Water Sanitation and Hygiene. Others are B.Sc. Prosthesis and Orthothics, B. Ed. Entrepreneurial Education and O.D. Optometry.
The Director of Academic Planning, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Angela Nwogor Ufele-Obiesie, introduced the members of the NUC delegation to the Vice-Chancellor and explained the purpose of the resource assessment visit.
The Vice-Chancellor was represented at the reception by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Hilda Osisoma, who formally received and welcomed the delegation to the University.
In their remarks, members of the delegation expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management for the warm reception accorded them since their arrival. They commended the University for its hospitality and support towards the successful conduct of the exercise.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Stanley Bond Anyaehie, welcomed the NUC delegation to Nnamdi Azikiwe University and assured them of the University's full cooperation and support throughout the exercise.
He described Nnamdi Azikiwe University as “the university of the moment,” noting that the institution would continue to maintain its position through excellence, commitment and innovation.
Prof. Anyaehie encouraged the NUC delegation to remain diligent and committed in the discharge of their responsibilities, stressing that dedication to duty is essential to the continued growth and development of the Nigerian university system.
He also appreciated the NUC team for their selfless service and commitment to the development of the Nigerian university system. According to him, their efforts towards ensuring that Nigerian universities maintain high standards in teaching, learning and academic development are worthy of commendation.
Also speaking, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, Prof. Alex Asigbo, welcomed the delegation to the University. He described Anambra State as “the light of the nation,” expressing optimism that the light of God would continue to guide and accompany the team even after their departure from the state.
Prof. Asigbo assured the delegation of the University's readiness to provide all necessary assistance and support required for the successful completion of the resource assessment exercise.
The resource assessment visit is focused on evaluating the University's preparedness in terms of human resources, facilities and other requirements for the effective commencement and delivery of the eight newly created academic programmes.
Among those present at the meeting were the University Registrar, Dr Chinenye Gloria Okeke, Prof. A.U. Nnoyelu, Chief Safety Officer; Mr. Obi Collins; and the University Public Relations Officer, Comrade Aloysius Emeka Attah.
