UNIZIK VC Commissions Solar System at Faculty of Social Sciences
Says “It Is Our Administration, Not My Administration”
The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Ugochukwu Stanley Bond Anyaehie, has commissioned a solar power system at the Faculty of Social Sciences under the leadership of the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Michael Ezenwa.
The commissioning was part of the efforts of the Faculty leadership to improve the working environment and make administrative activities easier for staff.
Welcoming the Vice-Chancellor and his team, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Michael Ezenwa, said there was a need for the solar system, noting that it would make work easier for staff working in the various offices within the Faculty building.
Prof. Ezenwa thanked the Vice-Chancellor for the construction of the access road to the Faculty of Social Sciences under his tenure. He, however, appealed to the Vice-Chancellor for the full completion of the road to the Faculty.
The Dean also expressed appreciation to Prof. Anyaehie for his support in the creation of two additional departments in the Faculty, noting that the departments have also been captured in the University's current admission intake.
Speaking at the occasion, Prof. Val Uche-Agu thanked the Vice-Chancellor for the achievements recorded within the one year of his assumption of office. He pledged the support of the Faculty of Social Sciences to the administration and assured that the Faculty would do its best to ensure the success of the tenure.
Also speaking, Prof. Amaka Obiamalu applauded the Vice-Chancellor for his efforts in beautifying the University. She described the administration as clear and vision-driven, adding that the Faculty would continue to work hand in hand with the Vice-Chancellor.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Stanley Bond Anyaehie, thanked the Faculty, especially the Dean, Prof. Michael Ezenwa, for the efforts he is making to ensure that there are no lapses during his tenure as Dean.
Prof. Anyaehie emphasized the importance of collective ownership of the University, correcting the use of the expression “my administration” and stating that it should be “our administration.”
He explained that Nnamdi Azikiwe University belongs to everyone and that all members of the University community have a responsibility to contribute towards making the institution work effectively.
The Vice-Chancellor also assured the Faculty that the access road would be completed, noting that its completion was already in the pipeline, even before the Dean made the request.
Prof. Anyaehie expressed happiness that members of the University community were appreciating the developments being recorded under the new administration. He called for continued cooperation from staff and students for a better Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
He further stated that things could be done normally in UNIZIK without partiality and reiterated his commitment to making things easier for both staff and students of the University.
