STRENGHTENING INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATIONS
UNIZIK VC LEADS ENGINEERING TEAM TO INDIA FOR SEVEN-DAY TECHNICAL TRAINING
-Training to strengthen utilisation of COREN accreditation equipment, enhance engineering education at UNIZIK
The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, has been in Jaipur, India, for a seven-day intensive technical training programme at Tesca Technologies Pvt. Limited.
The training is part of the University’s efforts to strengthen its technical capacity and maximise the use of specialised equipment supplied by Tesca Technologies to support the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) accreditation of the University’s engineering programmes.
Prof. Anyaehie undertook the training alongside the Head of the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering, Prof. Alumona Theophilus, and the former Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Dr. Ogboh Victor.
The three participants received hands-on training on the operation, application and effective utilisation of the specialised equipment supplied to the University.
The initiative is particularly significant as the equipment forms part of the infrastructure required to support the University’s engineering programmes and their professional accreditation. The training equipped the participants with the requisite technical knowledge to ensure that the facilities are put to optimal use for teaching, practical training, research and other academic purposes.
The training programme was facilitated by Osinak Spectra Edge Nigeria Enterprises, which has been working in collaboration with the University Management on the implementation of the initiative.
The Vice-Chancellor’s participation in the programme underscores the commitment of the present University Administration to hands-on leadership, staff capacity development, technological advancement and the continuous improvement of academic standards at Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
The University Management is expected to leverage the knowledge and expertise gained from the training to further enhance the quality of practical engineering education and strengthen UNIZIK’s preparedness for professional accreditation requirements.
The seven-day programme in Jaipur is another step in the University’s ongoing drive under the leadership of the Prof. Anyaehie’s administration , to provide its students and staff with modern facilities, relevant technical competencies and an enabling environment for excellence in teaching, learning and research.
