UNIZIK VC Reaffirms Merit, Transparency as NYCN Anambra Seeks Strategic Partnership on Youth Development
The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, has reaffirmed the University's unwavering commitment to merit, transparency, and youth empowerment while receiving the executive members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Anambra State Chapter, on a courtesy visit to his office.
The delegation, led by the State Chairman of the Council, Comrade IKC Onuorah, explained that the visit formed part of the Council's advocacy and familiarisation engagements aimed at strengthening its relationship with the University Management and exploring strategic areas of collaboration for youth development.
Speaking during the visit, Comrade Onuorah commended the Vice-Chancellor for his visionary leadership and remarkable strides in repositioning the University. He expressed the Council's desire to establish a productive partnership with UNIZIK and appealed for continued support for qualified young people, particularly in the areas of admission and employment opportunities.
In his response, Prof. Anyaehie reiterated that Nnamdi Azikiwe University remains firmly committed to upholding merit, fairness, and due process in all its operations. He stressed that admissions into the University would continue to be guided primarily by merit, while staff recruitment would strictly follow established procedures through public advertisement and a transparent, competitive selection process.
The Vice-Chancellor further assured the delegation of the University's readiness to collaborate with credible youth organisations on initiatives that promote youth empowerment, academic excellence, leadership development, and national progress. He encouraged young people to embrace integrity, diligence, and excellence, noting that sustainable success is built on hard work, competence, and character.
The visit concluded with an interactive session during which both parties expressed optimism about building a mutually beneficial partnership that would create greater opportunities for youth engagement and contribute meaningfully to societal development.

Comrade Chukwudi Alex Nwaekweghi, Comrade Ikwuegbo Valentine Mbamaka, Comrade Igwebonwu Nkemjika Bridget, Comrade Nwazulu Ebuka Emmanuel, and Comrade Azike Malachy.
