Watchman Forum Seeks UNIZIK VC’s Support for 3rd International Conference
The Watchman Higher Institutions Staff Forum has sought the support of the Vice-Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Anyaehie, ahead of its 3rd Annual International Conference scheduled to hold from October 8 to 11, 2026, at the University.
Leading the delegation during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Ushie Simon said the conference, themed “Harnessing Artificial Intelligence & Emerging Technologies for Church and Educational Advancement,” would bring together academics and other participants from universities across Nigeria and beyond.
Dr. Simon disclosed that the conference, which would have its opening ceremony on October 9, was the third edition, following successful editions held at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, in 2021 and Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, in 2023.
He said the delegation was at the University to formally invite the Vice-Chancellor to the conference and seek his support for the programme. He particularly appealed to Prof. Anyaehie to participate in the presentation of awards to students who had distinguished themselves academically, noting that 19 first-class graduates would be recognised at this year’s event, including graduates from Nnamdi Azikiwe University. According to him, the awards were part of the Forum’s annual initiative to encourage academic excellence and inspire students to work towards outstanding performance.
The delegation also appealed to the Vice-Chancellor for the University’s support in making the necessary arrangements to facilitate the successful hosting of the conference and ensure the comfort and security of participants and guests expected from different universities.
Responding, Prof. Anyaehie thanked the delegation for the invitation and courtesy visit, noting that it was important for the organisers to formally engage the University as the host institution ahead of the conference. He assured them that the University’s Protocol Department would work with the organisers to ensure that the necessary arrangements were made for the programme.
The Vice-Chancellor further approved the provision of a University bus to assist with the transportation needs of the conference and assured the delegation of his support for the event. He also announced a personal donation of in support of the programme, expressing appreciation to the Forum for choosing Nnamdi Azikiwe University as the host venue.
