Following the expiration of the tenure of Dr. (Mrs) Joy Ojukwu, the Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University has approved the appointment of Mr. Gozie Egwuatu as 5th substantive Bursar of the institution. According to a press statement from the Ag Head, Information and Public Relations Unit, Chika Ene, Mr. Egwuatu’s appointment takes effect from Friday May 20, 2022.
The statement reads:
The 9th Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University has approved the appointment of Mr Gozie Chukwuma Egwuatu as the 5th substantive Bursar of the institution. The appointment was made at the 10th (Emergency) meeting of the Council held on Friday, 11th March, 2022.
Mr Egwuatu’s appointment takes effect from May 20, 2022, following the expiration of the tenure of the former Bursar, Dr. (Mrs) Joy Ojukwu.
Until his appointment, Mr Egwuatu was the Head of Procurement at the University. He had also served as Director, Audit unit of the University.
Mr Egwuatu graduated from the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu in 1986. He further obtained a degree of Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Accountancy from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka in 2011. He is a Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN).
Mr Gozie Egwuatu is married to Dr Chinyelu Ijeamaka Egwuatu of the Department of Pure & Industrial Chemistry of the University; the marriage is blessed with children.
