    DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGY

    Available Programme:  PGD, MSc, and PhD

     Areas of Specialization:

    (i) Animal Physiology; (ii) Applied Fisheries and Aquaculture; (iii) Biological Conservation and Management; (iv) Ecology and Environmental Biology; (v) Entomology; (vi) Parasitology

     

    Admission Requirement:

    1. O’level

    5 O’ level credits to include English Language, Biology and any other 3 Science subjects with at least a pass in maths.

    Postgraduate Diploma(PGD)

    The candidate must be a graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University with at least a Third-Class degree or a minimum of lower Credit in the Higher National Diploma, HND, from a recognized Institution.

    The Postgraduate Diploma in Zoology is open to first degree holders in Science Education, Microbiology, Botany, Biology, Agriculture, Forestry, Physiology and those with a third class or pass degrees in Zoology. Also graduates with good HND/HNC in related Biological sciences are eligible to apply.

     

    Master’s Degree (MSc)

    1. The candidate must have a first degree in the relevant discipline with an FCGPA of not less than 2.5 from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University
    2. A candidate with a Postgraduate Diploma with an FCGPA of not less than 3.00 may also be admitted provided the University Matriculation requirements are satisfied

     

    Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degree

    A candidate who holds a master’s degree in a relevant discipline with an FCGPA not less than 3.50 on a 5 Point Scale or an average of 60%, from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University may be admitted provided the University Matriculation requirement is satisfied
