In her decisive commitment to the welfare and well-being of staff, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Professor Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi, recently hosted the maiden recognition ceremony for retired professors and principal officers of the university. The event, held at Administrative Block A, was a reunion of sorts, bringing together the university’s esteemed senior citizens.

Prof. Arinze-Umobi, in her address, revealed that she had long been burdened with the idea of inviting all retired professors and principal officers to see how they were faring, and she was grateful that the management team approved the initiative. She reiterated her commitment to their well-being, prayed for their continued strength and good health, and wished them a fulfilling retirement life.
The Chairman of the occasion, Professor Harry Obi-Nwosu, commended the Acting Vice-Chancellor for her thoughtful initiative, expressing joy at seeing the retired professors and principal officers celebrated for their service to the university.
In their separate goodwill messages, Sir Ngozi Anyakora, the pioneer Registrar, Professor Benjamin Osisioma, FCNA and Professor Stella Okunna commended the Acting Vice-Chancellor’s transformational leadership, noting that this event was a first of its kind, and they were proud to be associated with her leadership prowess.
The event’s highpoints included prayers for strength, good health, and blessings upon the retired professors and principal officers, handshake and distribution of welfare packages by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, and a heartwarming moment of dance with the senior citizens.
