The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Joseph I. Ikechebelu, has described the Registry as the backbone of the institution. He made this assertion during an interactive session with Deputy Registrars at the Council Chamber, Awka, on Monday, February 10, 2025.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Ikechebelu highlighted the critical role of the Registry in student admissions, staff recruitment, and the certification process. “Students’ first contact when they get admitted is with the registry. In staff recruitment, the registry plays an active role. When students graduate, it is the registry staff that will prepare their results and certificates. The registry is the high flyer of the University,” he stated.

The meeting provided a platform for the Deputy Registrars to share the achievements, challenges, and prospects of their respective units. They reaffirmed their commitment to the institution’s development and pledged their support for Prof. Ikechebelu’s BLESSeD Vision for UNIZIK.

In conclusion, the Acting Vice-Chancellor urged the Registry staff to be proactive, recognise and reward excellence within their units, and that his administration will prioritise continuous training, starting with the Deputy Registrars, as this will enhance efficiency in service delivery.

Present at the meeting is the Acting Registrar, Mr Victor Muodebelu, the Special Adviser (Academics) to the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ada Sam-Omenyi and the Special Adviser (General Duties), Prof. AU Nonyelu.
