The Acting Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi, has given a new lease of life to the Pre-Degree Centre, Mbaukwu (former Pre-Science) through a transformative solar lighting project.
Following an unscheduled visit to the centre some weeks ago, where she conducted an on-the-spot assessment, Prof. Arinze-Umobi embarked on the project to revamp the centre’s infrastructure. The development has been widely acclaimed, with many describing it as a “30-year jinx broken.”

The Pre-Degree Centre, which had been plagued by infrastructural challenges for years, is now witnessing a significant transformation under Prof. Arinze-Umobi’s leadership. The solar lighting project has brought much-needed illumination and hope to the students, creating a more conducive learning environment and enhancing safety in the community.
