Anambra Education Ministry seeks synergy, collaboration with UNIZIK
The Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ekene Ogugua, has expressed the commitment of the Soludo administration to partner with Nnamdi Azikiwe University and other federal higher educational institutions in the state towards raising the bar in standards and producing globally accepted graduates in Anambra State.
Speaking during a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, Dr. Ogugua stressed the need to strengthen educational partnership between the state government and the university.
He disclosed that the visit was part of the Soludo administration’s ongoing efforts to build partnerships that will strengthen the education sector and provide better opportunities for learners across the state.
Primary objectives during the meeting included Strategic Partnerships: Integrating the Ministry of Education’s policies with the university’s research capabilities to improve learning outcomes, while their collaborative discussions focused on improving teaching, academic research, and supporting UNIZIK’s demonstration schools.
Dr. Ogugua, an alumnus of UNIZIK, emphasised that institutional collaboration is a key pillar of Governor Charles Soludo’s administrative vision to build a globally competitive and innovative education sector
Responding, Prof. Anyaehie praised Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s efforts in the education sector and called for stronger collaboration with the university, especially in supporting its Demonstration Primary and Secondary Schools.
The Vice Chancellor disclosed that the university’s primary and secondary schools are not federally government-funded. He stressed the need for the university schools to be included as beneficiaries of various state government educational intervention programmes.
Dr. Ogugua, while assuring the Vice Chancellor of actions tailored to address areas of concern, said the Ministry of Education is ready to partner with universities and other stakeholders to improve teaching, learning, policy implementation, and the overall quality of education in Anambra State.
The commissioner was accompanied during the visit by Hon. Oby Chiegboka and Dr Chukwuemeka Christian, SA to the Governor on Education.
A member of the University Governing Council, Prof. Paul Okolie, witnessed the collaborative talks.
