Anambra State Local Government Commission Seeks Collaboration with UNIZIK.
The Chairman of the Anambra State Local Government Service Commission, Vin Ifeanyi Ezeaka (Esq), has sought areas of collaboration with Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, during a courtesy visit to the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie.
Speaking during the meeting, Ezeaka said the commission was interested in establishing a working relationship with the university in areas where both institutions could collaborate for mutual benefit. He also appealed for the consideration of a quota system that would allow members of the commission’s organization to benefit from opportunities such as admissions
He also briefed the Vice-Chancellor on the existing relationship between the Commission and the University, which involves the training of local government workers through the Department of Public/Local Government Administration. The programme is implemented in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria, to strengthen the capacity, professionalism, and administrative efficiency of local government workers across the state.
Responding, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Anyaehie, explained that the university operates within established academic procedures and administrative structures. He noted that decisions in the academic environment follow specific processes and that he does not possess unilateral authority to approve all requests.
However, he assured the delegation that the university would be willing to support any collaboration that aligns with its mandate and falls within the appropriate procedures.
The Vice Chancellor advised the commission to formally document their proposals, noting that such requests must pass through various communication channels and administrative processes before they can be approved, in accordance with the university’s constitutional guidelines.
The chairman was accompanied by members and officials of the commission, including Prof. Ngozi Ewuim, Hon. Barr. Anthonia Tabansi, Hon. Uche Okafor, the Secretary of the commission, Frank Anatogu, and the Public Relations Officer, Okoye Chidi.
