Awka Host Communities Reaffirm Support for UNIZIK, Seek Sustained Collaboration with Vice-Chancellor.



The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, recently received a delegation from the Association of the Seven Villages of Awka in his office, in a visit aimed at strengthening existing ties and fostering sustained cooperation.
The delegation, led by Sir Charles N. Nwachukwu, comprised representatives of the university’s host communities: Umuzocha, Umunoke, Amudo, Ifite, Nkwelle, Umuoramma, and Amachalla.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Sir Nwachukwu reiterated the position of the communities as traditional custodians of the land on which the university is situated. He expressed satisfaction with the Vice-Chancellor’s performance since assuming office, particularly highlighting the visible pace of infrastructural development within a short period.
He further assured the Vice-Chancellor of the association’s unwavering support and cooperation, noting that such goodwill has remained a consistent tradition between the host communities and successive university administrations.
In his response, Prof. Anyaehie warmly appreciated the visit, describing it as a significant demonstration of goodwill and mutual respect. He acknowledged the host communities as critical stakeholders in the growth, peace, and stability of the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining a cordial and mutually beneficial relationship with the communities, emphasizing his openness to continuous dialogue and engagement.
He also stressed the need to deepen security collaboration between the university and its host communities, calling for sustained synergy to enhance safety and safeguard lives and property within and around the university environment.
Other members of the delegation present at the meeting included Chief Chukwuemeka Okoye, Christopher Ndibe, Arinze Charles, and Remy Onyekuba.
