The Centre for Counselling and Career Development (CCCD), under the leadership of Prof. Harry Obi-Nwosu has successfully completed and handed over a newly constructed security post to the University’s Safety Unit.

At the commissioning ceremony, Acting Vice-Chancellor, expressed satisfaction with the initiative and congratulated the CCCD and its Director, Prof. Obi-Nwosu, for the commendable project. The VC lauded the foresight behind the security post and prayed for the continued growth and success of the Centre.

In a heartfelt gesture, the Vice-Chancellor also awarded a scholarship to the child of a labourer who tragically lost his life during the course of the project, fulfilling a request made by Prof. Obi-Nwosu.

Prof. Obi-Nwosu, in his remarks, emphasized the significance of the project as a step towards securing permanent accommodation for the CCCD within the university. He highlighted the Centre’s goal of aligning with the Federal Government’s recent mandates by integrating a full complement of professional services. Prof. Obi-Nwosu also acknowledged the support of the Acting Vice-Chancellor, noting that the VC’s encouragement during a recent board meeting motivated the team to expedite the project’s completion. He further expressed gratitude to the vision bearer of the CCCD, immediate past Vice-Chancellor Prof. Charles Esimone, FAS.

Chief Safety Officer, Mr. Ken Chukwurah, who accepted the new facility on behalf of the University’s Safety Unit, commended the CCCD for a job well done.
