Members of the Management of College of Health Sciences, Nnewi paid a courtesy visit to Professor Joseph Ikechebelu to express their congratulations on his appointment as Acting Vice-Chancellor.
Speaking on behalf of the Management, Professor Udigwe expressed his delight at Ikechebelu’s appointment, stating, “If there’s anyone who can undertake this role based on antecedents and capacity, it is you.” He emphasized their solidarity and support for the new office, promising to work diligently to achieve the vision of elevating UNIZIK to new heights.
Professor Udigwe also highlighted the challenges faced by the Nnewi campus, noting the need for a comprehensive development plan due to significant infrastructure and office deficiencies. He acknowledged the recent success of accreditation on the campus, attributing these achievements to the support of members of the College management.
In response, Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Ikechebelu thanked the delegation for their solidarity. “I am one of you and will always remain one of you,” he affirmed, underscoring his roots in the College of Health Sciences. He acknowledged the critical issues concerning hostel facilities in both Okofia and Akamili, noting that renovation efforts for Chukwuneke Hostel had already commenced. Additionally, he mentioned plans to encourage the endowment of hostel projects through individual contributions or public-private partnerships. He also revealed that a simulation center at Akamili is already underway to enhance learning across all programmes.
