Dr Alex Ekwueme Institute Visits the Ekwueme Family in Oko

A delegation from the Alex Ekwueme Institute for Leadership and Innovation Studies, led by its Director, Prof. Jeremiah Chukwuneke, has paid a courtesy and familiarisation visit to the family of the late former Vice President of Nigeria, Alex Ekwueme, in Oko, Anambra State.

Speaking during the visit, Prof. Chukwuneke said the engagement was aimed at updating the family on the activities, progress, and key developments recorded by the Institute since he assumed office as Director.

The delegation was received by the traditional ruler of Oko, HRH, Igwe Prof. Laz Ekwueme, who welcomed the team and commended the Institute for sustaining the ideals and legacy of the late statesman.

Among the notable achievements highlighted by the Director was the transition of the former Alex Ekwueme Centre for Multidisciplinary Research to the Alex Ekwueme Institute for Leadership and Innovation Studies. He also informed the family about the Institute’s annual lecture series organised in honour of Dr Alex Ekwueme, whom he described as a distinguished statesman, visionary leader, politician, and architect.

Prof. Chukwuneke further disclosed that the Institute now runs postgraduate programmes in Leadership and Innovation Studies as well as Project Management. According to him, admission forms are currently available for PGD, MSc, MBA, and PhD programmes in various disciplines.

Responding on behalf of the family, Igwe Prof. Laz Ekwueme expressed appreciation to the Director and his team for what he described as visible progress and dedication. He encouraged the Institute to remain committed to its objectives and assured the delegation of the family’s continued support for initiatives that preserve and promote the legacy of Dr Alex Ekwueme.

The visit ended with prayers for peace and progress in Nnamdi Azikiwe University, as well as for the success of the University administration and members of the Institute.
