    Faculty of Biosciences Equips Staff for Successful Appraisal.

    In a proactive move to strengthen staff career progression, the Faculty of Biosciences at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, through its Appraisal Sensitization Committee, held a one-day workshop designed to equip staff with the knowledge and tools needed to successfully navigate the university’s appraisal process.

    Declaring the workshop open, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ken Ekwealor, urged participants to remain diligent and sustain consistent academic productivity as a pathway to career advancement within the University system.

    In her presentation, Mrs. R. O. Onwudiwe of the Personnel Unit highlighted key provisions in the University’s Conditions of Service, guiding participants through the requirements for staff progression from entry level to the peak of their careers.

    The practical session was led by the Director of MICTU (Software), Prof. I. E. Onyenwe, who was represented by Mr. James Nnekwelugo. Mr. Nnekwelugo demonstrated how staff can effectively navigate the CIRMS portal.
    Participants were also advised to update and verify their credentials on the platform ahead of the appraisal exercise.

    Earlier, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Dr. Benjamin Uzonna Ononye, welcomed participants and encouraged them to take full advantage of the workshop

    p. He emphasized that strong academic collaborations remain a key driver of research productivity and professional growth.

    Dr. Ononye commended the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, for his sustained commitment to staff development and promotion in the University. He also appreciated the Dean, Prof. Ken Ekwealor, for his dedication to the welfare and advancement of staff members, while thanking the resource persons and members of the planning committee for their contributions to the success of the workshop.

    Participants described the workshop as insightful and impactful, noting that the sessions provided practical clarity on the appraisal process and the effective use of the CIRMS portal.
