Staff members of the Faculty of Medicine, led by their Dean, Professor Gladys Ahaneku, mni, paid a courtesy visit to the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Ikechebelu, to congratulate him on his new appointment.
In her remarks, Professor Ahaneku highlighted Professor Ikechebelu’s extensive experience, capacity, and capabilities, which she believes equip him well for his new role. “These are your people. We are here to say congratulations and to express our full support. Our prayers are with you. We know your track record, capacity, drive, and goodwill. You have achieved great success, and we wish you continued excellence. We are committed to partnering with you,” she stated.
Professor Ikechebelu expressed his gratitude for the show of support, saying, “When your own demonstrate this level of support, it is truly overwhelming. It hasn’t been easy since 1997. This is the only place where I have worked in government service. I breathe UNIZIK. Protecting and elevating UNIZIK to an excellent level is my primary desire. It is heart warming that our accreditation has been restored.”
He reiterated his administration’s short-term goals encapsulated in the mantra BLESSD: Beautify UNIZIK, Light Up UNIZIK, Excellent UNIZIK, Safety and Security, and Digitize UNIZIK.
