Group Seeks Partnership with UNIZIK to Empower Young Women.

A group known as She Lead Safe Initiative has sought a partnership with Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, to empower young female students through digital skills, health education, and leadership development.
Presenting the initiative to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, on Monday, March 16, 2026, in his office, the spokesperson and leader of the group, Miss Augusta Ukoha Chisom, a one-time Vice President of the UNIZIK Students’ Union Government, described the organization as a charitable initiative driven by concern for the challenges faced by young women.

She explained that the group is committed to mobilizing resources and implementing programmes aimed at equipping female students with relevant life and professional skills.

Miss Ukoha noted that the group chose to collaborate with the University because of its large student population and its strategic role as a hub for youth development. She therefore appealed to the Vice-Chancellor to approve the use of a hall on campus for the launch of their programme once a date is confirmed, and also requested the University’s support in creating awareness among students.

The delegation also congratulated the Vice-Chancellor on his assumption of office and wished him a successful tenure.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor warmly welcomed the delegation and commended the initiative for channeling their time, talents, and resources toward the empowerment of young women rather than engaging in unproductive ventures.

On their request for a venue, Prof. Anyaehie assured the group that the University would grant them access to a hall provided it is available on the proposed date of their programme. Regarding awareness among students, he advised the group to liaise with the Students’ Union Executive to facilitate effective student mobilization.

Other members of the delegation included Dr. Idika Ezinne from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and Miss Okoye Chinenye of the Registrar’s Office, UNIZIK.
