*Logistics and Supply Chain Programme Commends UNIZIK VC’s Support for Departmental Growth*



The Logistics and Supply Chain Management Programme of Nnamdi Azikiwe University has commended the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Anyaehie, for his unwavering support towards the growth and institutional advancement of the programme.
During a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor on Thursday, May 21, 2026, the Coordinator of the Programme, Prof. Promise Oparah, appreciated the University management for its efforts in facilitating the transformation of the programme into a full-fledged Department under the Faculty of Management Sciences.
Prof. Oparah disclosed that although the programme is presently domiciled in the Department of Marketing, remarkable progress has been made towards establishing an independent Department of Logistics and Supply Chain Management. He further noted that UNIZIK remains the first university in South-East Nigeria to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, describing the achievement as a major milestone for the institution.
He commended the Vice-Chancellor for his commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and institutional development.
Also speaking, Pharm. Liz Ezenekwe thanked the Vice-Chancellor for enabling members of staff to participate in the LEARN Logistics workshop organised by the Kühne Foundation for scholars pursuing MSc degrees in Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
According to her, the workshop held from March 22 to April 2, 2026, was for participants enrolled in the postgraduate programme hosted by Heriot-Watt University through its Edinburgh Business School. She revealed that the selected staff members from UNIZIK are currently undergoing postgraduate training and are expected to complete their MSc programme by December 2026.
Responding, Prof. Anyaehie assured the delegation of the University administration’s readiness to provide all necessary support for the successful takeoff and development of the Department of Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
The Vice-Chancellor stated that the University is committed to meeting all requirements necessary to sustain the progress already recorded towards the commencement of the undergraduate programme. He also reaffirmed the institution’s openness to collaborations, including Faculty and Academic Staff Exchange Programmes, aimed at strengthening the programme and supporting resource verification processes where necessary.
Prof. Anyaehie further reiterated the University’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and global partnerships capable of positioning the institution competitively in emerging academic fields.
He also commended the Kühne Foundation for its dedication and sustained commitment towards ensuring the successful completion of the scholars’ Master’s degree programme.
Other scholars and members present during the visit included Casino Daniel Oluwatoyomi, Peter Chukwudi Nzouru, Dr. Anthony A. Uzodigwe, Dr. Chikelu Peter, Kanayo Nwosu, and Dr. Ifeoma J. Nduka.
