    NAU Receives Educational Textbook Donations from the University of Brighton Through the International Linkages Directorate.

    The Directorate of International Collaboration and Linkages, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, has secured educational textbook donations from the University of Brighton, England, for the Department of Theatre and Film Studies of the institution.

    The Director of International Collaboration and Linkages, Prof. Charles Nwadigwe, led a delegation from the Department of Theatre and Film Studies for the formal presentation of the donated books to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, on Monday, May 25, 2026.

    Speaking during the presentation, Prof. Nwadigwe explained that the donation was attracted through the university’s international collaboration with the University of Brighton, England. He said the books would enhance teaching, professional development and growth both for the university and the creative industry in general.

    According to him, the educational textbooks and related academic materials would significantly enhance research, teaching, and students’ learning experience in the department, while also contributing to the overall growth and development of the university.

    In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Anyaehie, commended the Directorate and Department of Theatre/ Film Studies and Production for its commitment to academic excellence and innovation.

    He reaffirmed his administration’s vision of establishing a Nollywood-standard film village within the university to promote practical film production and creativity among students.

    The Vice-Chancellor stated that the proposed film village would support the production of epic and classical films, including projects requiring forest settings, adding that efforts would be made to ensure that the vision of also hosting a Nollywood Hall of Fame Award in the university becomes a reality by November 2026 during the convocation period.

    He also expressed hope that the department would find the books very useful and resourceful noting that his interests in Artificial Intelligence (Ai) among other technologies in vogue, stem from his conviction that the 21st-century university must embrace all the digital revolution ongoing globally.

    In a vote of thanks, the Head of Department of Theatre and Film Production, Dr. Nkemakolam Aniukwu, expressed appreciation for the donation and other achievements recorded for the department through the efforts of the Directorate of International Collaboration and Linkages.

    He expressed optimism that the vision of the Vice Chancellor for the department would come to reality disclosing that the current President of the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) graduated from the department and had expressed intentions for collaborative works with the department.

    Dr. Aniukwu also commended the Vice Chancellor for the new staff he approved for the department and the ongoing building project even as he appealed for more support both in manpower and projects towards strengthening the department for greater productivity.

    Other lecturers present during the presentation included Doris Aniagboso, Dr. Somtoo Arinze Umobi, Dr. Uche Ajiwe, Dr. Chibuike Abunike, and a Deputy Registrar in the Directorate, Mrs Augustina Nnuka.
