Obi of Onitsha Commends UNIZIK VC, Says Varsity Now Enjoys Relative Peace.
The Obi of Onitsha, Obi Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, has commended the Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, for his sterling leadership qualities, noting that the university now enjoys relative peace.
Obi Achebe gave the commendation when the Vice-Chancellor paid him a courtesy visit at his GRA residence in Onitsha on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
The revered monarch thanked God for the Vice-Chancellor’s emergence at a time when the university was facing leadership challenges, noting that the institution has since witnessed stability and calm under his leadership.
Obi Achebe expressed confidence in the Vice-Chancellor’s capacity to take the university to greater heights, given his proven track record of achievements. The royal father, who is also known as Agbogidi, reaffirmed his commitment to continue supporting the university in every possible way, especially in view of its historic connection with the legacy of the Great Zik of Africa, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe.
Responding, Prof. Anyaehie appreciated the Obi of Onitsha for his fatherly support and goodwill towards the university, describing the royal father as a pillar of wisdom and a strong advocate of educational advancement.
The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied on the visit by the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Hilda Osisioma; the Registrar, Dr. Chinenye Gloria Okeke; the Bursar, Mr. Gozie Egwuatu; the University Librarian, Prof. Stella Anasi; the Acting Public Relations Officer, Mr. Njelita Louis; and other personal aides.
