


Ohanaeze Ndigbo Delegation Honours UNIZIK Scholar, Visits Vice-Chancellor.
The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, on 2nd April 2026, received a delegation from Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide at his office.
The delegation was led by Prof. Nkoli Mercy Nnyigide of the Department of Igbo, African, and Communication Studies, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
Addressing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nnyigide expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded to her and the delegation. She informed the VC of her recent conferment with the historic and prestigious Professorial Chair Endowment Award by Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide—an achievement that once again places UNIZIK on a distinguished pedestal.
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated Prof. Nnyigide on the remarkable honour, describing it as a proud moment not only for the Department of Igbo, African, and Communication Studies but also for the entire university community.
He noted that the recognition reflects both academic excellence and cultural relevance, adding that it further enhances the prestige of the institution.
Prof. Anyaehie also commended the growing impact of women in academia and leadership, emphasizing that their contributions are significant and deserving of continued recognition and encouragement.
Other members of the delegation included Prof. Hilda Osisioma, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration); Prof. Angela Nwogor Ufele-Obiesie, Director of Academic Planning; Prof. Greg Obiamalu, Director of CEP; and Prof. George Onwudiwe, Dean of the Faculty of Arts.
