The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Bond Ugochukwu Anyaehie, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving students’ welfare and ensuring more conducive living conditions in the university hostels.
Receiving the Students’ Hall Governors on Monday 19th day of Jan. 2026 in his office, Prof. Anyaehie assured them that management had taken note of the challenges confronting hostel residents and would address them promptly.
He immediately directed the Director of Works, Engr. Joseph Okoye, to resolve the identified issues within one week.
As part of the intervention, the Vice-Chancellor approved the release of 500 litres of diesel weekly to sustain the operation of the hostel power plant, describing reliable electricity as critical to students’ comfort and productivity.
Prof Anyaehie further assured the governors of his continued support while urging them to exhibit maturity, responsibility and constructive engagement in all their interactions with university management.
Earlier in his speech on behalf of the hall governors, the SUG President, Comrade Samuel Ochuba, outlined the major challqnges to include epileptic power supply, non-functional Wi-Fi services, inadequate bed spaces and bedding, as well as unconducive toilet facilities, especially in the male hostels.
