Areas of Specialization:

(i) Food Microbiology; (ii) Food Chemistry and Quality Control; (iii) Food Processing and Storage Technology; (iv) Food Engineering

O’level

5 O’ level credits to include English Language, Maths, Chemistry and Biology/Agricultural Science in not more than two sittings. Pass in Maths may be considered if the candidate has a credit in Physics or vice versa. The 5 credits must be obtained in not more than 2 sittings. A credit pass in Agricultural Science must be backed up with at least a pass in Biology.

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

The candidate must be a graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University with at least a Third Class degree in Food Science and Technology or allied disciplines or a minimum of lower Credit in Food Science and Technology or Food Science or Food Technology in the Higher National Diploma, HND, from a recognized Institution

Master’s Degree (MSc)

  1. The candidate must have a first degree in Food Science & Technology or in related fields such as: Biochemistry, Chemistry, Agricultural Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Microbiology, Industrial Microbiology, Industrial Chemistry or any other related course acceptable to the Department of Food Science and Technology of Nnamdi Azikiwe University with an FCGPA of not less than 2.5 from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University
  2. A candidate with a Postgraduate Diploma in Food Science & Technology or relevant discipline with an FCGPA of not less than 3.00 may also be admitted provided the University Matriculation requirements are satisfied.

Mphil/PhD

A candidate who holds a master’s degree in Economics with an FCGPA not less than 3.00-3.49 on a 5 Point Scale or an average of 50%-59%, from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University may be admitted provided the University Matriculation requirement is satisfied.

PhD

A candidate who holds a master’s degree in Economics with an FCGPA not less than 3.50 on a 5 Point Scale or an average of 60% from Nnamdi Azikiwe University or a recognized University may be admitted provided the University Matriculation requirement is satisfied.
