The anticipated University Farm will serve as a major source of income and revenue generation for the Ivory Tower when it is fully established and functional.
These were revelations made by UNIZIK Vice Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone FAS, on the occasion of celebration of his one year in office.
Prof. Esimone stated that the upcoming University Farm which has been approved by the Governing Council will undertake large scale production of farm produce for the University community and the public. The Professor of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Microbiology posited that upcoming University Farm will be situated at the Ifite Ogwari Campus, the site for the Faculty of Agriculture who are set to move over to their permant site.
Prof. Esimone said that the University Farm will also serve for hands-on-training of agriculture students of the institution. He further stated that the movement of the Faculty of Agriculture is an opportunity for the students to fully grasp their chosen discipline as well as develop the entrepreneurial skills which is required today for the socioeconomic development of the nation at large.
