UNIZIK Advancement Management Board Inaugurated: A New Era for Institutional Growth.







The Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, marked a significant milestone on 10th April 2026 with the formal inauguration of its Advancement Management Board. The event attracted dignitaries from within and outside the university community and was characterized by strong commendations, visionary reflections, and renewed commitments to institutional excellence and sustainable development.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, highlighted the remarkable progress the institution has recorded under his leadership. He disclosed that the university has successfully graduated over 6,000 students within a relatively short period and noted that UNIZIK is currently ranked among the most sought-after universities in the country, occupying a prominent third position in national preference indices.
Reflecting on his administrative journey, the Vice-Chancellor explained that one of his earliest strategic initiatives upon assuming office was the establishment of the Advancement Management Board. He described the board as a key component of his long-term development blueprint for the university. According to him, what began as a conceptual framework has now evolved into a fully functional structure through sustained collaboration and institutional support. He emphasized that “when strategy meets strategy, success is on the way,” underscoring the deliberate planning behind the university’s recent achievements.
The Vice-Chancellor further expressed confidence in the newly inaugurated leadership of the board, noting his optimism that the Chairman, Dr. Stanley Uzochukwu, will provide strong direction in advancing the university’s growth agenda.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Uzochukwu commended the Vice-Chancellor’s visionary leadership, stating that effective leadership roles are earned through consistent performance and proven excellence. He observed that UNIZIK’s current developmental trajectory reflects strong academic and administrative competence at the leadership level. He further noted that “great institutions are not sustained by structures alone, but by people who choose to lead them rightly,” stressing the importance of intentional leadership in institutional development. He concluded that universities grow not by chance, but through deliberate decisions guided by vision and commitment.
Also speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Flutterwave Nigeria Limited, Olugbenga Agboola, commended the university for its continuous strides in academic and infrastructural development. He reaffirmed his organization’s support for the institution and described UNIZIK as a leading university not only in Nigeria but also in broader developmental impact across various sectors.
In her remarks, the Registrar of the university, Dr. Chinenye Gloria Okeke, expressed gratitude to all dignitaries in attendance and congratulated the newly inaugurated board members. She reaffirmed UNIZIK’s standing as one of Africa’s leading universities and expressed confidence that the new board will play a vital role in strengthening the institution’s global competitiveness.
