UNIZIK Associate Professor Represents Nigeria at WHO-AFRO Technical Advisory Group Meeting on Schistosomiasis
Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has recorded another significant milestone in global health engagement as Dr. Ogechukwu Benedicta Aribodor, an Associate Professor in the Department of Zoology, Faculty of Biosciences, represents Nigeria at the 3rd World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Office for Africa (WHO-AFRO) Technical Advisory Group (TAG) Meeting on Urogenital Schistosomiasis.
The high-level meeting, taking place in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo, from July 15 to 16, 2026, brings together leading regional experts to review, strengthen and refine technical guidance and implementation tools aimed at supporting African countries in integrating Female and Male Genital Schistosomiasis into their national health systems.
Dr Aribodor’s participation in the prestigious WHO-AFRO forum highlights the increasing global recognition of Nnamdi Azikiwe University as a centre of excellence in research, innovation, and academic scholarship. It also reflects the University’s growing contributions to international health research, evidence-based policy development and technical advisory initiatives geared towards improving public health outcomes across Africa.
Her selection to represent Nigeria further underscores UNIZIK’s commitment to advancing global partnerships and fostering impactful research that addresses critical health challenges on the continent.
