Engineers from the Mechanical Engineering Department of Nnamdi Azikiwe University led by Engr Dr Paul Okolie has fabricated an efficient and fast blade-type fish feed mixer. The mixer runs with a 1.5Hp, single-phase electric motor and has a production capacity of 50kg/hr.
The result showed that mixing time and speed has a positive effect on the homogeneity of fish feed with its peak at about 25 minutes and 220 rpm respectively. The machine has passed as safe, efficient and durable using international standards of assessment.
