UNIZIK LECTURER WINS PRESTIGIOUS AFRICAN-JAPAN AJ-CORE RESEARCH GRANT
A Lecturer I in the Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry, Faculty of Physical Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Dr. Chidera Courage Offor, has emerged as a recipient of the prestigious African-Japan Collaborative Research (AJ-CORE) Grant Award.
The development was disclosed in a letter dated 16 June 2026, addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, in which Dr. Offor formally notified the University Management of the remarkable achievement and requested that it be featured in the University’s official publications.
According to the letter, the grant was awarded to a multinational research team in recognition of the scientific excellence and collaborative strength of their proposed project titled “Aerosol Trace Element Deposition and Bioaccessibility over the Southern Ocean (ADSO).”
Dr. Offor serves as the Principal Investigator (PI) representing Nnamdi Azikiwe University on the international research team, alongside collaborators from other institutions across the globe. The feat underscores the University’s growing research capacity and expanding international visibility in cutting-edge scientific research.
While noting that the official award letter was yet to be issued at the time of writing, Dr. Offor attached the published list of successful projects from the programme’s official website as evidence of the award.
The achievement further reinforces Nnamdi Azikiwe University’s commitment to research excellence, global collaboration, and impactful scientific innovation, while highlighting the calibre of its academic staff on the international stage.
