

UNIZIK LIBRARIAN DELIVERS THOUGHT-PROVOKING 122ND INAUGURAL LECTURE.
The University Librarian of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Stella Ngozi Ifeoma Anasi, has delivered the institution’s 122nd Inaugural Lecture, calling for urgent reforms to reposition Nigerian libraries as engines of national development.
Delivering the lecture on Thursday, 26 March 2026, Prof. Anasi spoke on the topic, “The Neglected Goldmine: Repositioning Nigerian Libraries at a Critical Crossroads.” She highlighted the declining relevance of libraries in contemporary Nigerian society and stressed the need for innovation, digital transformation, and strategic investment in the sector.
According to her, libraries remain an underutilized asset capable of driving education, research, and societal progress if properly harnessed.
The well-attended event took place at the Zephaniah Madubuko Auditorium, Faculty of Social Sciences, and attracted scholars, industry leaders, and members of the academic community. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, was among the dignitaries present.
In recognition of her academic contribution, Prof. Anasi was decorated with a commemorative medal for delivering the University’s 122nd Inaugural Lecture.
