UNIZIK MANAGEMENT CONDOLES WITH THE FAMILY OF LATE CHIEF DR. M.N.C. NWOFOR.

The Management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, has paid a condolence visit to the family of Late Chief Dr. Michael Nwankwo Chukwunenye Nwofor (Ọzọ Enyikwonwa) at his residence in Umuogbunu Village, Awka.

Late Chief Nwofor will be fondly remembered for the pivotal role he played in the early years of the University. Over three decades ago, he provided the institution with a soft landing by leasing his estate to accommodate University staff, and students at the then temporary site, when the institution, then a State University, returned from Enugu following the demerger of ASUTECH (Anambra State University of Science and Technology).
A renowned philanthropist and distinguished community leader, Late Chief Nwofor rendered invaluable support to the University in numerous ways during his lifetime, including the award of scholarships to several indigent students, thereby contributing significantly to the academic dreams of many.

Receiving the Vice-Chancellor and the Management team were the deceased’s sons, Barr. Chuma Nwofor and Igwedumma Nwofor.

In his condolence message, the Vice-Chancellor commended the remarkable contributions of the late elder statesman to the growth and stability of the University. He also assured the family of the institution’s continued warm relationship with them, encouraging them to always feel free to reach out whenever they require the University’s support.

Members of the Vice-Chancellor’s entourage included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Alex Asigbo; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Hilda Osisioma; the Registrar, Dr. Gloria Chinenye Okeke; the Bursar, Mr. Gozie Egwuatu; and the University Librarian, Prof. Stella Anasi.
Others present were Prof. Tracy Utoh-Ezeajughi (Council Member); Engr. Iyke Onwuemene (Council Member); Prof. Engr. Paul Okorie (Council Member); Prof. Kingsley Ubaoji (Dean, Student Affairs); Prof. Frank-Collins Okafor (University Orator); Prof. Au Nnonyelu (Director, Emeka Anyaoku Institute for International Studies and Diplomacy); Mrs. Joy Ojukwu (Former Bursar); Chief Ken Chukwurah (Chief Safety Officer); and the Ag. Public Relations Officer, Mr. Njelita Louis.

The visit underscored the University’s enduring appreciation of the late Chief Nwofor’s legacy of generosity, leadership, and unwavering support to the institution.
