Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, received a delegation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) on a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, as part of activities marking the ongoing South-East Quality Assurance Assessment Training hosted by the University.

The delegation, led by the South-East Zonal Director of NBTE, Engr. Dr. Ngozi Margaret Okelekwe, met with the Vice-Chancellor at his office in the University’s Administrative Building to reinforce the Board’s commitment to promoting quality assurance and institutional excellence in technical and vocational education.

The South-East Quality Assurance Assessment Training, hosted by UNIZIK, was facilitated and attracted to the University through the efforts of Prof. Chinedu Onyeizugbe, Director of the UNIZIK Capital Market Centre. Speaking during the visit, Prof. Onyeizugbe informed the Vice-Chancellor that the training would deliver significant benefits to the South-East geopolitical zone by strengthening quality assurance capacity while also enhancing UNIZIK’s visibility and reputation as a centre for academic and professional excellence.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Dr. Okelekwe introduced members of the assessment team and outlined the objectives of the training programme, explaining that it is designed to strengthen quality assurance practices through rigorous assessment and capacity building for participants. She assured the University Management that the exercise would be conducted professionally and in line with established quality assurance standards.

She also informed the Vice-Chancellor that certificates for participants who completed previous assessment exercises were ready for collection, underscoring the Board’s commitment to recognising excellence and professional development.

Members of the delegation included Chief Olabode Ilesanmi Obidapo, Bldr. Gabriel Lawrence, Bldr. Dr. Orgi Solomon, Engr. Nwune Bright Chigozie, Ven. Timothy E. Ighodaro, Eluchie Mmesoma Ruth, and Uchechukwu S. Mathew.

In his response, Prof. Anyaehie warmly welcomed the NBTE team and commended the Board for its unwavering dedication to advancing quality assurance through continuous training, assessment, and professional development.

The Vice-Chancellor stressed the importance of ensuring that certificates are promptly presented to participants who have successfully fulfilled all programme requirements, describing them as deserving beneficiaries whose efforts should be duly recognised without unnecessary delay.

Prof. Anyaehie also applauded Prof. Chinedu Onyeizugbe for attracting the strategic training programme to the University, noting that such initiatives align with his administration’s vision of positioning UNIZIK as a leading hub for quality assurance, innovation, and professional capacity development.

Reaffirming UNIZIK’s commitment to the successful implementation of the training programme, the Vice-Chancellor assured the delegation of the University’s full cooperation and logistical support, including the provision of fuel and other necessary resources, to ensure the smooth and effective execution of the exercise.
