UNIZIK, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria Forge Partnership for Successful Hosting of IJELE 2026 National Conference
The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, has reaffirmed the University’s commitment to strategic partnerships by pledging institutional support for the successful hosting of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) 2026 National Conference, popularly known as IJELE 2026, in Anambra State.
The assurance was given when the President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Pharmacist Tanko Ibrahim, FPSN, led members of the Society’s National Executive Council (NEC) on a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor.The visit was aimed at seeking the University’s partnership ahead of the national conference scheduled to hold from November 2 to 7, 2026.
Speaking during the visit, Pharmacist Tanko Ibrahim disclosed that the delegation was in Anambra State for the Society’s National Executive Council and Council meetings, as well as to inspect facilities designated for the forthcoming conference.
He described the PSN National Conference as one of Nigeria’s largest professional gatherings, attracting thousands of pharmacists, researchers, industry leaders, policymakers, and other stakeholders from across the country. According to him, the successful hosting of the event would depend on the collaboration of strategic institutions, including the Anambra State Government and Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
The PSN President noted that UNIZIK remains a critical stakeholder because of its reputation for academic excellence and its role in producing highly skilled healthcare professionals. He appealed to the University Management to partner with the Society by providing support in logistics, transportation, manpower, and other essential areas required for the successful organisation of the conference.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee (CPC), IJELE 2026, Pharmacist Derrick Osondu, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for granting the delegation audience despite his demanding schedule.
He reiterated the Society’s request for institutional collaboration, particularly in the areas of logistics, vehicles, manpower support, and the engagement of pharmacy students as volunteers throughout the conference.
Pharmacist Osondu assured the Vice-Chancellor that the Society would formally communicate its requests to the University and expressed confidence that the partnership would contribute significantly to delivering a memorable and successful national conference.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, commended the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria for choosing Anambra State as the host of its 2026 National Conference and for identifying Nnamdi Azikiwe University as a strategic partner in the historic event.
Professor Anyaehie assured the delegation of the University’s readiness to support the conference within the limits of its available resources. He stated that requests relating to logistics, transportation, manpower, and other areas of collaboration would receive favourable consideration upon formal submission by the Society.
The Vice-Chancellor further pledged that UNIZIK would work closely with the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria to ensure that delegates and visitors enjoy a rewarding experience throughout the conference. He also expressed the University’s willingness to sustain engagement with the conference organisers before and during the event to guarantee seamless coordination.
Professor Anyaehie commended the leadership of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria for its unwavering commitment to the advancement of pharmacy practice and healthcare delivery in Nigeria and wished the Society a successful and impactful IJELE 2026 National Conference.
Also present during the visit were the Deputy President (North) of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Pharmacist Ishaq Tukur; the National Publicity Secretary of the Society, Pharmacist Lizette Njideka Ezenekwe; and other members of the National Executive Council of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria.
