Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has been selected to receive a European Union grant and project valued at €400,000. Under the leadership of the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Carol Arinze-Umobi, the university stands out as the only federal institution chosen for the funding.

The project also includes partners from Uganda, specifically MAT ABACUS Business School and Makerere University Business School (MUBS) and Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu University, Anambra State. They are joined by three distinguished European partners: Universidade de Lisboa (Portugal), Stichting VU (Netherlands), and the Uganda Chapter for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), along with the consulting firm Sejjaaka Kaawaase & Co.

This initiative aims to empower young accounting graduates in Nigeria and Uganda by equipping them with practical and in-demand employability skills through a structured Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) model.

The grant will support this ambitious effort over 24 months, fostering extensive collaboration among eight prestigious institutions across four countries.

The project is expected to benefit more than 3,000 students and staff in Nigeria and Uganda, focusing on critical activities such as curriculum redesign, the development of a WIL quality control framework, industry-academia engagement strategies, and capacity building through student and staff mobility programs.
