UNIZIK VC Backs Igbo Women Assembly Initiative on Youth Reorientation, Receives Invitation to Maiden Inauguration
The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, has reaffirmed the University’s commitment to initiatives that promote youth development, moral reorientation and societal transformation as he received a delegation of the Igbo Women Assembly (IWA), UNIZIK Chapter, on a courtesy visit to his office.
The delegation visited the Vice-Chancellor to formally invite him to the maiden inauguration of the university chapter of the association and seek the University’s support for its youth-centred advocacy.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Coordinator of the chapter, Dr. Ngozi Ulogu, appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for granting them audience despite his demanding schedule. She explained that the inauguration will feature an inaugural lecture titled, “Rescuing the Souls of the Youth: The Role of Mothers,” aimed at addressing the growing moral and social challenges confronting young people.
According to her, the event is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Chisco Hall, Faculty of Engineering, Nnamdi Azikiwe University. She noted that the lecture theme underscores the indispensable role of mothers and women in nurturing responsible, value-driven individuals capable of contributing positively to society.
Dr. Ulogu further highlighted the mission of the Igbo Women Assembly, describing it as an organization dedicated to promoting moral values, preserving Igbo cultural heritage and advancing community development through advocacy, mentorship and purposeful engagement. She expressed confidence that the Vice-Chancellor’s presence and support would strengthen the association’s vision and inspire wider participation within the university community.
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, thanked the delegation for the invitation and commended the association for championing a cause that aligns with the University’s commitment to character formation and responsible leadership.
He observed that the family, especially mothers, remains the first institution of learning, stressing that rebuilding society begins with instilling sound moral values and discipline in the younger generation.
Describing the lecture theme as timely and thought-provoking, Prof. Anyaehie noted that every effort geared towards mentoring, guiding and restoring positive values among youths deserves the support of all stakeholders. He assured the delegation of the University’s goodwill and support and wished the association a successful inauguration and fruitful deliberations.
